The Canadian Rockies are one of my favourite places to visit in the world.
Follow my 7 part Photographic journey through the Canadian Rocky Mountains, starting from Banff, driving the Columbia Icefields Parkway, visiting and viewing Lakes, Mountains and Glaciers north to Jasper. and the surrounding area.
Banff is a 1 h 25 min (136.0 km) pleasant, easy drive from Calgary, west on Trans-Canada Hwy1. The Banff Airporter bus runs a regular service from Carlgary airport to Banff go to https://banffairporter.com/
Please Note :– It is not uncommon to have snow between September – May in Alberta. That being said, the major highway are not a problem to drive.
Banff (gateway to Banff National Park and the Rocky Mountains) The first of what was to be many visits to this pretty tourist town, I woke early on a sunny July morning to walk the short distance from my central motel to the banks of the Bow River. So peaceful, quiet and beautiful at that time of day. Several deer gracing happily and unperturbed on the grass verges. Within less than ten minutes I was viewing the spectacular, snow capped mountains beyond the peaceful flowing waters of the Bow river.
A photographs paradise, my thoughts ” there can’t be any else as beautiful as this, “how wrong could I be” as my journey was just beginning I was to find ever corner I turned more stunning vistas awaited.
